Artist's Comments

A Rube Goldberg I had to design. It was a project for my ART 107 class and I did it entirely in MS Paint.

Wow, that is really creative. I know I would never have the patience to complete something like that.

although this machine is awsome, as a rube goldberg machine maker i feel i should state that the plank pushed by the skatebaord will not have enough force to push over a kettle full of water. the plank will bounce right off. however, if you managed to somehow balance a weight on top of that plank, the constant weight being pulled down will tip the kettle over. i dont want to be petty, so tell me if you want me to tell you other things that are not realistic, but for now - really awsome machine

Uhm... And now to think of a way to not make that sound like spam >_<

Ahah! Well thank you for pointing that out! Actually, or teacher wanted our Rube Goldbergs to be really crazy and insane...but I couldn't help my attempt at being technical! lol There are several things wrong with it that would complicate things if it were to be created realisticly, but I love critique, so feel free to point more things out! ^^

ok =) good, because I like being petty ^^;;

I am warning you, this is EXTREMELY petty, and might make you think less of your seriously awsome machine. so etiher dont read, or dont take seriously. because your creativity rocks.

another problem is that the marbles will not necessarily slide off the platform into the funnel unless its sloped, but if it is sloped, they will slide off even without the water.

also, the water would also go into he funnel, slide down the ramp and wet the fan, and im not sure how well fans operate when wet.

next, the wooden block's mass would have to be very very light, otehrwise the sheer inertia of the boat bumping into it might not be strong enough. myabe if the cube was hollow.

next - the cat food is placed in fornt of the cat, the cat ont care if its in a bowl or not, so he could jsut as well eat the cat food right froom the start

also, cats are unruly, the cat woul;d probably run away right after being tied up. and even if he didnt, the cat wouldnt necesarily keep its tail sticking up.

also, the thingy tha tpuishes the doorbell is at the same height even when the rope is diagonal, but if it was diagonal, he thingy would be held higher.

also, doorbells offer some resistance, so it could not be rung by something that is light enough to be pushed by a fan.

To be honest, I don't mind at all!!! I find all of your observations to be accurate!!! ^.^ I've built a real and working Rube Goldberg years ago...but this project was just from an art class and I didn't really put as much as I should into it. Perhaps I'll design a better one, and you can critique it for me!? ^^
